(hint) a happy life doesn’t always mean a meaningful life

What’s more important to you, to live a happy life or to live a meaningful life? According to many philosophers, happiness does not produce meaning, but rather the opposite — a meaningful life may bring happiness. But then again, look at Mother Teresa; her life was meaningful, but many who knew her would tell you that she wasn’t exactly a happy person. Yet, others, like the (anonymous) lady, reads children books at the local library on the weekends. Doing so adds meaning to her life, and she’s passionate about it, so that means she’s happy too.

Some people pursue meaning but end up doing things that don’t make them happy. However, it’s possible to live a happy and meaningful life by actively engaging in (meaningful) activities that add value to your life or the lives of others.

Here’s another thing to consider; you aren’t supposed to be happy — all the time.

If you think about it, what is happiness? According to Kendra Cherry in her article, what is happiness?, "Happiness is an emotional state characterized by feelings of joy, satisfaction, contentment, and fulfillment…it is often described as involving positive emotions and life satisfaction"…

I believe that life is about finding joy through passion, purpose, and being compassionate towards others.
