Sometimes, we face challenges. Other times, we brave obstacles. Most of the time, we don’t know what the fuck we’re doing. However, some of us have developed the unique ability to approach life’s challenges and obstacles with dignity, charm, and grace.

Some people have learned how to merge both the power of positivity and realistic view. They’re optimistic enough to avoid any negative energy and forsee positive outcomes, yet grounded in reality enough to understand what’s required of them to achieve said outcome.

When we utilize a realistic view, we perceive things as they are rather than what they should be.

In order to surmount any obstacle, you must have both a realistic view and a positive mindset. Too much realistic view and little optimism can lead to pessimism. Too much optimism and little realistic view can lead to wrong decisions due to misjudged perceptions on what really is.

What Can You Do?

First, step back and view whatever challenge(s) you face as though through the eyes of a spectator. Detach yourself from any feelings or judgments you might hold. Ask yourself if you’ve gathered all the necessary information. Be sure to spend some time in this place. At some point you’ll surely stumble across some negative thoughts or false views. Remind yourself the importance of maintaining a positive outlook while gathering all the information needed to make your next move.

Life isn’t all flowers and rainbows. Some challenges will be more difficult than others. Some obstacles will seem so high that you can’t even imagine a way over (or around). And that’s okay. In any circumstance, the key lies in maintaining confidence, which can only be done by being optimistic. Only then can you evaluate the challenges to come with dignity, charm, and grace.
