Do This Before You Check Your Stats

If you’re like me, try implementing these tips’n tricks to drive engagement and increase your success on the Medium platform — before checking your stats.
1. Read, Clap, & Respond to at least one article.
Try to build the habit of reading at least one article every time you hop on Medium. Let’s be honest. The more you read, the better you’ll write. That, and Medium is about writers supporting writers.
Read, clap, and respond. By doing so, you’ll be putting your name out there by engaging with others. From my experience, they often return the favor. Especially to those who leave a comment.
You’re also exposing yourself to other individuals who respond to the article, as they’ll see your comments.
But please, please, for the love of God, don’t write something basic like “great advice”, or “very inspirational.”
That’ll get you nowhere and offers no real benefit to the writer.
Instead, think outside the box. Offer valuable feedback. Show support. After all, wouldn’t you want the same?
2. Be patient & stick to the process.
Not every article’s gonna take off, especially right away. In fact, most of my articles don’t pick up until after day three.
Give it a bit before returning to your stats. Try to set a specific time each day to review your progress. Identify what’s working and what’s not. If, after a few days, you notice that a specific article is lacking in traction, try adjusting the title or image. In doing so, you may notice an increase in engagement.
3. Fugget about it
Quite literally, forget about it. Checking your stats constantly throughout the day can deter you from writing. Once you hit publish, forget about it and move on to the next one. After a week or so, check out the progress of your previous articles, or set a specific time each day to check your…
